Cortland Community Celebrates National School Board Recognition Week

The Cortland Purple Tigers community is gearing up to honor the
dedicated service of the Cortland Board of Education during School Board Recognition Week, which will take place this week. This special week is an opportunity to acknowledge the tireless efforts of school board members who work diligently to enhance the educational experience for students within the district. The Cortland Board of Education, comprising seven adult members and one student ex-officio member, plays a pivotal role in shaping the district's vision and ensuring that the needs of both staff and students are met. What makes their commitment even more commendable is that these board members serve on a volunteer basis, dedicating countless hours without financial compensation. "Recognizing the service of our school board members shouldn’t be limited to just one week a year," District Superintendent Bob Edwards stated. "Their commitment to our community and our students is ongoing, and we are grateful for the countless hours they put into making our schools a better place for everyone." New York State is home to 688 school districts, each supported by a devoted school board focused on fostering growth and success in their educational institutions. The Cortland Board of Education exemplifies this dedication, continuously striving to ensure that every decision made prioritizes the best interests of students and staff alike. As part of the recognition festivities, members of the Purple Tigers community will gather to express their gratitude for the board's unwavering support. In a heartfelt gesture, they aim to highlight the significant contributions made by the board members throughout the year. In closing, the Purple Tigers community extends a sincere thank you to the Cortland Board of Education for their dedication and support, ensuring a bright future for every student in the district. With the collaborative efforts of the Board and the community, the educational landscape in Cortland continues to thrive.
