Science
New science standards were adopted by the Board of Regents in December of 2017. As a result of these new standards, the curriulum and program will be evolving over the next few years as new curriculum materials, assessments, and other resorcues are developed. It's important to note that the new standards refelct a dramatic departure form the way science has been taught, focusing on understanding and application rather than the memorization of facts. Each NGSS standard contains not only science content but also science practices and principles. Each standard includes three dimensions: Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCI), Science and Engineering Practices(SEP), and Crosscutting Concepts (CCC). Together they create three dimensional learning.
