School board candidates sought

Petitions are available to run for a seat on the Cortland Board of Education.

The terms of two Cortland Board of Education members and an unexpired term are up for election May 20, 2025 at the budget vote and board member election. The two candidates with the most votes will serve three-year terms commencing July 1, 2025 and expiring on June 30, 2028. The candidate with the third most votes will serve an unexpired term commencing on May 21, 2025 and expiring on June 30, 2027.

To be on the ballot, candidates must be qualified to vote in school elections in the Cortland Enlarged City School District, be a resident of the district one year prior to May 20, 2025 and file a petition with 100 signatures of qualified school district voters before 5:00 p.m. April 30, 2025. Petitions are available 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at the Kaufman Center.
